Chevrolet Cruze L, LT, Premier & More Trims

On later Cruzes, both are basic commuter trims with a turbo gas engine, touchscreen, and phone integration. The L is the plainest sedan-only version. The LS has a broader role and was offered as both a sedan and hatchback by 2019.

On newer Cruzes, the LT adds everyday comfort and appearance upgrades such as automatic climate control, remote start, upgraded headlights with LED daytime running lights, alloy wheels, and a split-folding rear seat. The engine remains the same turbo gas four-cylinder.

On newer models, Premier focuses on cabin comfort. It adds keyless entry and start, heated front seats, synthetic leather seating, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. It is a richer version of the gas Cruze, not a sport-performance trim.

On later models, the LT uses a 1.4-liter turbo gas engine and balances comfort with fuel economy. The LT Diesel uses a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel and adds keyless start, heated seats, a power driver’s seat, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

Pick Premier for the most comfort-focused gas Cruze, including synthetic leather seating and a heated steering wheel. Pick LT Diesel for frequent highway travel, stronger low-speed pulling power, and added driver-assistance equipment on later models.

In older first-generation and Cruze Limited lineups, 1LT is the practical turbo step above LS. The 2LT adds a more comfortable cabin with heated leather-appointed front seats, a power driver’s seat, remote start, and four-wheel disc brakes.

On older Cruze Limited models, LTZ sits above 2LT. Both emphasize comfort, but LTZ adds keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, heated mirrors, a rearview camera, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Eco is the gasoline mileage specialist, using aerodynamic body changes, lightweight wheels, and a small turbo engine. Diesel models use a turbo-diesel engine for long highway range and also carry more comfort equipment. The diesel engine differs by era: 2.0 liters earlier and 1.6 liters later.

Cruze Limited is the outgoing first-generation sedan that Chevrolet kept on sale when the redesigned Cruze arrived for 2016. Its trim names include LS, 1LT, Eco, 2LT, and LTZ, so they should not be directly matched to the later L, LS, LT, and Premier ladder.

On newer models, L is the simplest choice if a sedan works for you. LS keeps the basic commuter focus and expands the body-style options, including a hatchback by 2019. Both retain core touchscreen and phone-integration features.

Premier is the comfort-focused trim in the newer lineup, with heated front seats, synthetic leather seating, keyless start, and a heated steering wheel. In the older Cruze Limited range, 2LT and LTZ fill a similar role, with LTZ at the top.

On later models, LS is the straightforward hatchback choice, while LT adds automatic climate control, remote start, upgraded lighting, and alloy wheels. The Cruze hatchback first joined the U.S. range for 2017, and a diesel hatchback followed for 2018.

Heated front seats are associated with the comfort-oriented and diesel trims. On newer models, that means Premier and LT Diesel. In older Cruze Limited lineups, 2LT, LTZ, and Diesel include heated front seats.

On later models, LT Diesel includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Earlier Cruzes could pair some of these features with option packages, so equipment should be checked on the individual used car.
