BMW i7
The i7 is BMW’s flagship luxury sedan with a twist – it’s all-electric. New for 2023, the battery-powered autobahn cruiser takes the traditional 7 Series, with its upscale design, engaging driving dynamics, and roomy, tech-forward cabin, and adds the instant and near-silent power of an electric powertrain. It’s a compelling combination. Pros for the i7 include its ample thrust, plush interior, and surprisingly agile handling for a big sedan. On the downside, the big electric Bimmer is quite a bit pricier than the gasoline-powered 7 Series, which offers many of the same features. Also, rivals from Tesla and Lucid offer far more range.

BMW i7 Model Lineup
The i7 is an all-electric variant of BMW’s full-size luxury sedan, the 7 Series. The battery-powered five-seater first appeared in 2023, when the seventh generation of the 7 Series (known internally at BMW as the G70) was unveiled. The i7 is the largest electric sedan in the German automaker’s lineup, measuring almost two feet longer than the compact i4. It shares some powertrain components with the iX, BMW’s all-electric luxury crossover SUV.
Motivating the i7 is a 101.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack paired with two electric motors, one at each axle. Together, they produce 536 horsepower, which is routed to all four wheels via a direct-drive transmission. Range for the i7 tops out at an estimated 318 miles; however, some available tire and wheel packages reduce that figure by about 20 miles. Once depleted, the battery pack can be recharged in about 10-12 hours when plugged into a 240-volt at-home charger, and it can gain as much as 80 miles of range in 10 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger.
BMW offers the i7 in a single well-equipped trim called xDrive60. Standard features include adaptive LED headlights, soft-close doors, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, four-zone automatic climate control, a digital instrument panel, a wireless device charger, and a 14.9-inch center touchscreen with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Also standard is adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, forward collision mitigation, and a surround-view camera. Some notable options include heated, ventilated, and massaging rear seats and a 31-inch rear-seat entertainment system.
