Audi RS Q8

The RS Q8 is a sport utility vehicle with a major emphasis on sport. Based on the stylish Q8 crossover coupe, it emerges from Audi’s RS performance division with a nearly 600-horsepower V8 capable of launching the mid-sizer to 60 mph in under four seconds. And thanks to other sport-themed enhancements, including four-wheel steering and an adaptive air suspension, it handles better than any SUV has a right to. Owners of the RS Q8 praise its prodigious power, surprising agility, and feature-packed interior. On the downside, interior storage is somewhat lacking, and that big V8 isn’t exactly a fuel sipper, making it expensive to run.

Audi RS Q8 Model Lineup

The RS Q8 is a high-performance version of Audi’s coupe-like luxury crossover SUV, the Q8. With room for up to five people, it’s the largest vehicle and the only sport-ute offered by the German automaker’s RS (RennSport or “racing sport”) division. Note that Audi also sells a somewhat less powerful and less expensive version, called the SQ8. The RS Q8 shares a platform and some components with the Lamborghini Urus and the Porsche Cayenne, which are built by two of Audi’s sister companies in the Volkswagen Group.

The RS Q8 is available in a single, well-equipped trim. Standard features include leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Also included are parking sensors, a surround-view camera, automatic emergency braking, and a blind-spot warning system. Adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist were offered as options until the 2022 model year, when they also joined the standard-feature list. Other notable options include heated rear seats, soft-close doors, acoustic glass, and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Under the hood, the RS Q8 features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 591 horsepower. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that routes power to all four corners via Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel drive system. Other performance-oriented equipment includes four-wheel steering and an adaptive air suspension. No hybrid or electric versions of the RS Q8 have been offered.
