Audi e-tron Sportback

Audi entered the all-electric luxury crossover market with the handsome e-tron SUV in 2019. The next year, the German automaker followed it up with a coupe-like version called the e-tron Sportback. It offers all of the features (and much of the utility) of the more traditionally shaped original but with a sleeker fastback design. Known for its luxurious ride and quiet, roomy interior, the e-tron Sportback is a highly desirable vehicle. However, its 218-mile range falls short of many rivals, and the sloping roofline does impinge somewhat on rear headroom and cargo capacity.

Audi e-tron Sportback Model Lineup

The e-tron Sportback is a coupe-like version of the e-tron, a premium all-electric midsize crossover with available seating for five. It’s one of Audi’s largest all-electric SUVs, measuring roughly 13 inches longer than the compact Q4 Sportback e-tron. The automaker also offers a performance-oriented version called e-tron S Sportback (reviewed separately).

Audi makes the e-tron Sportback in three trims: the entry-level Premium, the mid-range Premium Plus, and the range-topping Prestige. Regardless of trim level, it comes handsomely equipped. Standard niceties include leather upholstery, an adaptive air suspension system, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration arrived as standard equipment for 2021. Many advanced safety features and driving aids (including forward collision mitigation, blind-spot warning, and lane-departure warning) come standard; however, adaptive cruise control and front and rear parking sensors are optional.

Motivating the e-tron Sportback is a 95-kWh battery pack that pairs with two electric motors to send power to all four wheels. Total output is 355 horsepower in standard operation or up to 414 ponies in Boost mode, which briefly unlocks a reserve of battery power. Its range is estimated at 218 miles, per the EPA. Once depleted, the battery pack can be fully recharged in roughly 10 hours using a 240-volt household outlet or add up to an 80% charge in as little as 30 minutes when connected to a DC fast charger (that can match its max charging rate of 150kW).
