The Audi e-tron debuted as the German manufacturer’s first fully electric SUV in 2019. Despite possessing an estimated range that stops short of truly competing amongst rivals in the segment, the e-tron’s luxurious ride and roomy interior make it a highly desirable all-electric SUV.

Though the number of all-electric SUV options is relatively limited (at the moment), the Audi e-tron is a bona fide standout amongst its peers. One of the e-tron’s defining qualities is its spacious and accommodating interior. This vehicle is lauded for its practical cabin, offering comfortable ingress and egress for its occupants, as well as plenty of head, shoulder, and leg room for individuals sitting up front or in back. It’s worth noting that the Sportback’s sloping rear roof section adds style, but reduces cargo space (approx. 1.3 cubic feet) and rear head room (.7 inches). You also make a small range sacrifice with the Sportback, getting 218 miles compared to the e-tron’s 222-mile estimated range.

The e-tron delivers when it comes to accommodating not only passengers but also their things, serving up 29 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back row, which expands to 57 cubic feet with the seatbacks folded flat.

Not only is the e-tron spacious, but it can be argued that its interior appointments are best in class. Whether you’re behind the wheel or along for the ride, you can expect seating that evokes a feeling of luxury. Meanwhile the e-tron’s quad-zone climate control system ensures each passenger rides comfortably. Additionally, the e-tron’s air suspension provides a smooth, stable ride, while the cabin virtually eliminates any road noise that takes place during travel.

When it comes to tech, the e-tron doesn’t skimp either. Standard on every e-tron are dual touchscreens, with a 10.1-inch display on top and an 8.8-inch unit below it. The upper screen provides access to the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto apps as well as the available Bang & Olufsen audio system, while the bottom screen is primarily used for controlling climate settings. The e-tron is also outfitted with several USB ports and features a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. A wireless smartphone charger is optional.

On the safety front, Audi includes an array of standard features on the e-tron such as forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.

Audi e-tron Model Lineup

The e-tron is an all-electric midsize crossover that seats up to five. When it comes to size, the e-tron slots just ahead of the Audi Q5, a compact crossover, and just behind the Q8, a fellow midsize counterpart. Audi also offers the e-tron Sportback. From a design perspective, the Sportback is equal parts SUV and four-door coupe, and is tabbed as the sportier version of the e-tron SUV.

Three trim levels are available with the e-tron: the base-level Premium, Premium Plus, and the Chronos Edition, which replaced the Prestige trim in 2022.

A dual-motor, 355 horsepower electronic all-wheel-drive system powers every e-tron SUV, though activating Sport driving mode unlocks a reserve of battery power that can briefly boost output to 402 horses. The e-tron’s 95 kWh battery can also be fully charged using a conventional 240-volt outlet in roughly nine hours.
