2025 Toyota Corolla

The biggest change for the 2025 Toyota Corolla is the new FX special-edition sedan, which adds sportier styling and a sharper suspension and steering setup. Otherwise, this is a light-update year with a few hybrid-trim and touchscreen changes.

About the 2025 Toyota Corolla

12th-generation Corolla family, late in its run after the 2023 update.

Toyota positions the Corolla as a dependable compact car built around easy daily driving, strong fuel economy, and standard active-safety tech. The family gives buyers a few different personalities without changing that basic mission: the sedan is the straightforward commuter, the hatchback adds a more playful shape and extra cargo flexibility, and the hybrid leans harder into efficiency. Versus many rivals, Corolla’s appeal is its familiar controls, low-stress ownership feel, and long-standing reputation for durability.

For 2025, Toyota positions LE as the no-fuss commuter, SE as the sportier step, the new FX as a personality-focused throwback, and Hybrid XLE as the comfort-focused top hybrid. FX pairs a 169-hp engine with a lowered suspension and a 10.5-inch touchscreen, while Hybrid XLE emphasizes comfort with heated seats, a power driver's seat, and a moonroof. The Nightshade hatchback remains the style-first choice with bronze-finished wheels and black exterior trim.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The hybrid Nightshade option leaves the lineup. At the top of the hybrid range, the comfort-focused XLE replaces the sportier XSE; the core hybrid powertrain remains familiar.
Styling
The new FX sedan adds a model-specific rear spoiler, black exterior accents, and Moonstone sport-fabric seats with orange stitching.
Tech
A 10.5-inch touchscreen is standard on the new FX, the gas sedan XSE, and the Hybrid XLE. FX and Hybrid XLE also include a wireless charging pad.
Structural
The FX receives a lowered suspension and retuned electric power steering for a slightly sharper feel than the regular SE sedan.

How the 2026 Toyota Corolla compares

The biggest 2026 Toyota Corolla change is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert becomes standard across the sedan, hybrid, and hatchback lineups. This is a late-cycle update rather than a redesign, with new digital gauges for sedans and hybrids plus a retro-themed FX hatchback.

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest change to the 2025 Toyota Corolla?

The new FX special-edition sedan is the biggest change for 2025. Based on the SE, it adds a lowered suspension, retuned steering, black exterior details, unique seats with orange stitching, a 10.5-inch touchscreen, and wireless phone charging.

Is the 2025 Corolla FX more powerful than the regular SE?

No, the FX uses the same 169-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the gas SE. Its sportier character comes from the lowered suspension, retuned steering, and model-specific appearance details rather than added engine power.

How did the 2025 Corolla Hybrid lineup change?

The comfort-focused XLE replaces XSE as the top Corolla Hybrid trim for 2025, and the hybrid Nightshade option is gone. XLE has a standard 10.5-inch touchscreen, heated SofTex-trimmed front seats, a power driver's seat, a moonroof, and wireless phone charging.

Is the 2025 Toyota Corolla mostly the same as the 2024 model?

Yes, most of the 2025 Corolla family carries over from 2024. The meaningful differences are the new FX sedan, the reshuffled upper hybrid lineup, the end of the hybrid Nightshade option, and wider use of the 10.5-inch touchscreen on upper sedan trims.

“Gas mileage is great. The ride is smooth. I like driving this car. I can get in and out easily. The looks are stylish and have a purpose to help with air glow and gas mileage. Really like the automatic gate lift and there is a button to not only close the gate but will also lock the car as it closes. It is not as big as a Rav 4, but has very much the same feel. Again, it is fun to drive.”

“The android auto will disconnect. The radio display is difficult to use and reach. Road noise is loud. Do not get it without the push button start and proximity door unlock feature.”
