About the 2025 Toyota 4Runner

6th generation (2025-present), first year of a full redesign.

Toyota positions the 4Runner as a rugged midsize SUV for people who want genuine truck-like toughness, real trail ability, and everyday usefulness in one vehicle. The brand leans on its power rear window, adventure-first image, and broad trim spread—from basic SR5 to luxury Platinum and expedition-ready Trailhunter. Compared with most crossovers, the 4Runner is about durability, towing, outdoor use, and authentic off-road capability more than soft-road comfort alone.

The lineup stretches from the straightforward SR5 to highly specialized versions: TRD Pro is tuned for faster off-road driving, while the new Trailhunter is equipped for long, remote trips with an onboard air compressor and heavy-duty underbody protection. TRD Off-Road Premium combines trail hardware with a 14-inch touchscreen and upgraded seats, while the new Platinum focuses on comfort with premium leather, heated rear seats, and a head-up display.

Styling
The redesigned lineup gets new exterior treatments, including sport-focused details for TRD Sport and heritage-style grilles with integrated LED light bars on TRD Pro and Trailhunter.
Safety
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 becomes standard across the lineup.
Tech
The cabin gets 8-inch or 14-inch touchscreens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upper trims add features such as trail camera views, a surround-view camera, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
