About the 2025 Lexus RX

5th generation RX (2023-present), third model year; early-cycle update year with the new F SPORT Design grade.

Lexus positions the RX as its core two-row luxury SUV: a comfort-first crossover that blends a quiet cabin, upscale design, strong safety technology, and multiple electrified choices without giving up everyday usefulness. Its main draw is breadth. Buyers can get the same polished RX formula as a turbo gas model, an efficiency-focused hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, or a performance hybrid, all within the same roomy, premium-feeling package.

The RX 350 remains the everyday turbocharged model, while the RX 350h emphasizes fuel economy and standard all-wheel drive. The new F SPORT Design trims add a sportier look without the suspension and brake upgrades of F SPORT Handling. At the top of the range, the RX 450h+ offers 37 miles of estimated electric driving, while the 366-hp RX 500h F SPORT Performance focuses on stronger acceleration and sharper handling.

What changed, by category

Styling
Lexus added RX 350 F SPORT Design and RX 350h F SPORT Design trims. Both combine their existing gas or hybrid powertrain with F SPORT front and rear styling, black details, 21-inch gloss-black wheels, and sport-themed cabin trim, but without the chassis upgrades of F SPORT Handling.
Tech
A 12.3-inch digital driver display became standard across the lineup. Built-in navigation changed from standard to optional on the RX 350, RX 350 F SPORT Handling, RX 350 Premium, RX 350h, and RX 350h Premium. The heated steering wheel became standard on the RX 350 F SPORT Handling and RX 500h F SPORT Performance. The RX 500h also gained a standard panoramic moonroof, while its LED headlights changed from standard to optional.

How the 2026 Lexus RX compares

The 2026 Lexus RX gets a light update rather than a redesign. The main change is that wireless phone charging becomes standard across the lineup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest change to the 2025 Lexus RX?

The biggest change is the addition of F SPORT Design trims for the RX 350 and RX 350h. They bring sportier F SPORT styling to the regular turbocharged and hybrid models without adding the more specialized suspension and braking hardware found on F SPORT Handling models.

How is the 2025 RX F SPORT Design different from F SPORT Handling?

F SPORT Design is mainly an appearance package, while F SPORT Handling also changes how the RX drives. Design models receive F SPORT body details, gloss-black 21-inch wheels, and sport-themed cabin trim. F SPORT Handling adds equipment such as an adaptive suspension, upgraded front brakes, and more supportive front seats.

Did the 2025 Lexus RX powertrains change?

No, the 2025 RX powertrain lineup carries over. It includes the 275-hp turbocharged RX 350, the 246-hp RX 350h hybrid, the 304-hp RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, and the 366-hp turbocharged RX 500h performance hybrid.

Is the 12.3-inch driver display standard in every 2025 Lexus RX?

Yes, every 2025 Lexus RX has a standard 12.3-inch digital driver display. This screen sits in front of the driver and is separate from the 9.8-inch or 14-inch center touchscreen.

Is the 2025 Lexus RX a redesign?

No, the 2025 RX is not a redesign. It is the third model year of the fifth-generation RX introduced for 2023, with new F SPORT Design trims and several equipment adjustments rather than major structural or mechanical changes.

“It's a great truck. It's stylish. Has all the bells and whistles. It has things you didn't even know you wanted (or needed) like a heated steering wheel.”
