About the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500

4th generation (2019-2026), after the 2022 mid-cycle refresh

GMC positions the Sierra 1500 as a full-size truck that combines serious work and towing capability with a more premium cabin and design than a basic work pickup. Its identity spans job-focused Pro models, well-equipped everyday trucks, dedicated AT4 off-road versions and Denali luxury models. Distinguishing features include strong gas and diesel powertrains, spacious crew-cab accommodations, large digital displays and specialized off-road and comfort hardware.

The 2025 Sierra 1500 lineup ranges from the work-focused Pro to the leather-trimmed SLT and luxury-focused Denali models. AT4 has a 2-inch factory lift and trail hardware, while AT4-X goes further with front and rear locking differentials and specialized off-road dampers. The highest Denali trim focuses on long-distance comfort with Super Cruise, massaging front seats, a head-up display and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

What changed, by category

Safety
The highest Denali trim gains standard Super Cruise hands-free driving hardware; the system was optional on that trim for 2024. There are no lineup-wide driver-assistance changes.

“The Turbomax 4 cylinder performs well, but has that terrible 4cylinder drone. They insist on placing bits of chrome on the dash which reflect in side view mirrors. The lack of rear wheel well liners creates a mess in winter”

“Beware the 5.3 motor. The jitter is not great. The fit and finish of the vehicle is not great. Gas mileage is good. Has a lot of room. Wish the driving safety features were more advanced like Ford.”
