Last updated August 4, 2026

2024 Nissan Z

The most important change for the 2024 Nissan Z is the arrival of the 420-hp NISMO, a more track-focused top trim. Sport and Performance otherwise carry over with very few changes, while the limited Heritage Edition also joins the lineup and the 2023 Proto Spec departs.

About the 2024 Nissan Z

7th generation Z (RZ34, introduced for 2023), second model year; lineup-expansion year with the first Z NISMO and a limited Heritage Edition.

Nissan positions the Z as a classic two-seat, rear-drive sports coupe that mixes long-hood Z heritage styling with modern turbo power and a driver-first cockpit. The core appeal is straightforward: a 400-hp twin-turbo V6, an available manual transmission, compact coupe proportions, and a cabin built around the person behind the wheel rather than extra seats or luxury space. Compared with rivals, Nissan leans on Z history, strong straight-line punch, and a more traditional sports-car feel.

The 2024 Z ranges from the straightforward Sport to the better-equipped Performance and the harder-edged NISMO. Sport has a 400-hp twin-turbo V6, an 8-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument display, while Performance adds stronger brakes, a limited-slip differential and a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation. NISMO tops the range with 420 hp, quicker automatic shifts, Recaro sport seats and track-focused chassis tuning.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The new NISMO uses a 420-hp version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and comes only with a specially tuned 9-speed automatic. Sport and Performance retain the 400-hp engine.
Styling
NISMO adds its own aerodynamic body design, while the limited Heritage Edition brings trim-specific exterior details to the Performance model. The one-year Proto Spec from 2023 is no longer in the lineup.
Structural
NISMO adds trim-specific suspension and steering tuning, greater body rigidity, larger brakes and aerodynamic changes that increase downforce. These updates do not apply across the full Z lineup.
