About the 2024 Ford Mustang

7th gen (2024-present), first year of the S650 generation.

Ford positions the Mustang as an iconic American sports car that still offers real variety: turbo or V8 power, coupe or convertible body styles, everyday usability, and a strong link to racing. Its core appeal is simple and emotional — rear-wheel-drive performance, unmistakable styling, and a driver-focused cabin — but the 2024 redesign adds more modern digital tech so it feels current without giving up the traditional Mustang personality buyers expect.

The lineup runs from the everyday, 315-hp EcoBoost to the classic 480-hp GT, with Premium versions adding heated and ventilated seats and other comfort upgrades. At the top of the regular lineup, the new 500-hp Dark Horse adds adaptive suspension, upgraded brakes and extra cooling for harder track driving.

How the 2025 Ford Mustang compares

The biggest 2025 Ford Mustang change is a GT Premium-only 60th Anniversary Package. Otherwise, this is a light-update year, with the 2024 redesign’s engines, platform, and overall cabin layout carrying over.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a full redesign?

Yes. The 2024 Mustang begins the seventh generation with a new body, redesigned cabin, updated engines and a new digital cockpit.

Is the 2024 Mustang EcoBoost offered with a manual transmission?

No. For 2024, the EcoBoost is automatic-only. The manual transmission is reserved for V8-powered Mustang models.

What is the new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse?

The Dark Horse is a new track-focused, street-legal trim with a 500-hp 5.0-liter V8, adaptive suspension, upgraded Brembo brakes and additional cooling hardware.

What happened to the Mustang Mach 1 for 2024?

The Mach 1 was dropped from the 2024 lineup, while the new Dark Horse joined as the regular lineup’s track-focused model. They are separate trims, not a simple name change.

What changed inside the 2024 Ford Mustang?

The cabin was fully redesigned around a 12.4-inch digital instrument display and a 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included across the lineup.
