About the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander

4th generation Outlander (2022-present); 2023 is the gas model’s second year and the first U.S. model year for the redesigned Outlander Plug-in Hybrid on this body.

The Outlander is Mitsubishi’s flagship compact SUV, aimed at shoppers who want standout styling, a nicer cabin than they might expect from the brand, and the flexibility of a small third row. Mitsubishi sells it as a family-ready SUV with a long warranty, confident all-wheel-drive capability, and a more upscale feel than the brand’s older products. In plug-in-hybrid form, it adds electric commuting and stronger low-speed punch without giving up seven-passenger packaging.

For 2023, the Outlander family covers both conventional gas and plug-in-hybrid versions, with seven-passenger seating and trims ranging from the straightforward ES to the comfort-focused SEL. SE brings heated front seats, a multi-view camera and added highway driving assistance, while the 40th Anniversary edition tops the range with a head-up display, Bose audio and semi-aniline leather.

“High-end trim package is great. I love the plug-in hybrid concept, but I wish the car had better EV range.”

2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in

“Good value for money. The vehicle is not universal for any kind of tasks, but good for most of them. Excellent for one or two people, not comfortable enough for more than two for long distance. Good quality of materials and workmanship. Driver friendly controllability. The appearance is attractive. Interior could be improved.”

“I wish living in a rural community, that I would not have opted for the Hybrid and I don't think the gas mileage is all that great. Otherwise the car is wonderful.”
