About the 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLA

2nd generation (H247, introduced for 2021), third model year and final pre-refresh year; 2023 was also the GLA 45's final US model year.

Mercedes-AMG positions the AMG GLA as its smallest performance SUV, pairing a compact, city-friendly footprint and useful cargo area with strong turbocharged power, AWD, quick dual-clutch gear changes, and AMG-specific suspension tuning. Its core appeal is sports-car-like speed and response in a practical five-seat shape, backed by a modern digital cabin and everyday comfort features.

The GLA 35 is the everyday performance version, pairing a 302-hp turbo engine and AWD with adaptive suspension, five seats, and two 10.25-inch displays. The GLA 45 has a stronger 382-hp handcrafted turbo engine, more advanced AWD, heated front seats, and a factory-estimated 4.3-second run from zero to 60 mph.

“Vehicle is awesome overall but misses the mark for “extras." Heated/cooled front seats should be standard and not optional for a 60K car. Brakes shouldn't constantly squeak. Voice control is nice but outside of temperature or a radio station, that's about it.”

“This is a different animal than my past cars. It's taking a lot of getting used to. Very busy dash display that can be hard to configure. Too many driving modes. No dip stick to check oil, no spare tire or space to store one. Mercedes is very specific about the fluids to be used in this vehicle. A DIY mechanic may find this vehicle difficult to work on.”
