About the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

3rd generation (L461), first year of the redesign

Land Rover positions the Range Rover Sport as a sporting luxury SUV: more driver-focused and more assertive than the larger Range Rover, but still unmistakably a Range Rover in comfort, design, and all-terrain ability. Its core appeal is the blend of clean modern styling, a high-tech cabin, strong road presence, real off-road hardware, and a wide spread of electrified and high-output powertrains. For most shoppers, it is the Range Rover experience with a sharper edge.

The P360 SE is the everyday luxury version, with a 355-hp mild-hybrid six-cylinder engine, air suspension and two large digital displays. The P400 SE Dynamic adds more power and sharper exterior details, while the P440e Autobiography pairs a plug-in hybrid system with an estimated 51 miles of electric driving. The launch-year P530 First Edition is the performance model, using a 523-hp twin-turbo V8, all-wheel steering and advanced suspension hardware.

What changed, by category

Structural
The Range Rover Sport moves to the new MLA-Flex platform for its third generation. The more rigid structure is joined by standard dynamic air suspension across the lineup.
Styling
The exterior and cabin are completely redesigned with cleaner bodywork and a simplified, more digital dashboard. The new P400 SE Dynamic receives distinct bumpers, body-color lower trim and darker exterior details.
Powertrain
The new lineup consists of 355-hp and 395-hp mild-hybrid six-cylinder engines, a 434-hp six-cylinder plug-in hybrid and a 523-hp twin-turbo V8. The SE is renamed P360 SE; P400 SE Dynamic, P440e Autobiography and P530 First Edition join the range, replacing the previous HSE Silver Edition, HST, P400e, P525 and SVR variants.
Tech
A curved 13.1-inch touchscreen and a 13.7-inch digital driver display replace the previous cockpit layout. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and wireless phone charging are fitted across the new range.
Safety
Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control debuts to manage speed over rough terrain. The camera and driver-assistance package adds a 3D surround view and ClearSight Ground View, which shows the area directly ahead and beneath the front of the vehicle.

How the 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport compares

The biggest change for the 2024 Range Rover Sport is the arrival of the 626-hp SV performance flagship, sold this year as the limited SV Edition One. This is an early-cycle trim and equipment update, not a redesign.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The 2023 Range Rover Sport begins the third generation with a new MLA-Flex platform, a completely redesigned body and cabin, new powertrains and updated suspension and driving technology.

What engines are in the 2023 Range Rover Sport?

The 2023 Range Rover Sport has four power levels: a 355-hp mild-hybrid six-cylinder in the P360 SE, a 395-hp version in the P400 SE Dynamic, a 434-hp plug-in hybrid in the P440e Autobiography and a 523-hp twin-turbo V8 in the P530 First Edition.

Does the 2023 Range Rover Sport have a plug-in hybrid?

Yes. The 2023 P440e Autobiography uses a 434-hp plug-in hybrid system built around a turbocharged six-cylinder engine, a 105-kW electric motor and a 31.8-kWh battery. Its estimated electric driving range is 51 miles.

Which 2023 Range Rover Sport has the V8?

“I'm very disappointed that Land Rover does not offer a more advanced Driver Assistance package such as Super Cruise. Also, it was a terrible mistake to leave out auto-locking and unlocking. It should lock automatically when I leave without me having to get the key out and push the button or the door handle, and it should open automatically when I approach the car.”
