About the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6

1st generation, first U.S. model year

Hyundai positions the IONIQ 6 as a sleek electric sedan that mixes long range, very fast charging, and a roomy, tech-heavy cabin with a more emotional design than many rival EVs. It is aimed at shoppers who want Model 3-like efficiency and performance, but with a softer ride, more conventional controls, and a cabin that feels warmer and less stripped-down. Its core strengths are aerodynamics, charging speed, and standard technology.

The lineup runs from the rear-wheel-drive SE Standard Range with a 53.0-kWh battery to the long-range-focused SE, which pairs a 77.4-kWh battery with 18-inch wheels. The SEL adds synthetic leather, wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, and a more advanced highway-assistance system. The Limited tops the range with cooled front seats, Bose audio, a wide sunroof, surround-view cameras, and remote parking assistance.

“It drives smoothly with great safety features, is comfortable and charges rapidly.”

“I tell them that the public charging infrastructure is not good. Driving beyond daily commutes is not acceptable, can't rely on charging availability, and so a "road trip" with this car is not feasible. It's great as a day to day driver, but not for any long trips or back to back trips.”

ZGZachery G.
2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 RWD

“Electric vehicles have a lot of torque. It is easier to maneuver safely in traffic. Adapting to electric charging is not as difficult as one might think. We rent cars when we travel on vacations anyway so it is not a concern when vacationing.”
