About the 2023 Ford F-250

5th generation Super Duty, first year of the redesign (2023–present)

Ford positions the F-250 as a heavy-duty pickup for serious towing, hauling, and work use, but with a wide spread from basic fleet truck to full luxury tow rig. Its core appeal is big V8 power, high payload and towing capability, and trailer-focused technology that makes hard jobs easier. Compared with lighter pickups, the F-250 is meant for buyers who regularly pull heavy trailers, carry heavy loads, or need a truck that can double as both a jobsite tool and a long-distance tow vehicle.

The XL remains the straightforward work truck, while the XLT adds more comfort and standard four-wheel drive. The Lariat brings leather seating, dual 12-inch displays, and a 360-degree camera, while King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited serve as luxury tow rigs with features such as head-up displays, trailer-assist technology, and premium audio. The Limited stands out with the high-output 6.7-liter diesel as standard equipment.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
A new 6.8-liter gas V8 becomes the standard engine, the 7.3-liter gas V8 is updated, and a high-output version of the 6.7-liter diesel joins the range. The high-output diesel makes up to 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque and is standard in the Limited. Flexible-fuel powertrains offered on several 2022 trims are dropped.
Styling
The F-250 receives a new exterior and a redesigned cabin. Trim-specific details continue to separate work-focused XL and XLT trucks from the western-themed King Ranch and the more modern-looking Platinum.
Safety
Driver-assistance equipment expands, especially on higher trims. Adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning become standard on King Ranch, lane-departure warning becomes standard on Platinum, and Lariat receives a standard 360-degree camera.
Tech
Ford’s SYNC 4 touchscreen system spreads across the lineup, paired with an 8-inch screen on XL and XLT or a 12-inch screen on Lariat and higher trims. The redesign also adds 5G connectivity and expands camera, hitch-assist, and trailer-assist technology.
Structural
The new-generation F-250 receives an all-new body and cab as part of the broader 2023 Super Duty redesign.
