About the 2023 BMW M5

F90 M5, sixth generation, final U.S. model year after the 2021 facelift and before the all-new seventh-generation plug-in-hybrid M5 arrived for 2025.

BMW positions the M5 as a four-door performance sedan that delivers supercar pace without giving up day-to-day usefulness. The appeal is its mix of explosive acceleration, all-weather traction, a roomy cabin for four or five people, and the ability to shift from comfortable commuting to much sharper performance settings. Compared with rivals, the M5’s core identity is a fast executive sedan that still feels like a serious M car rather than just a luxury sedan with a big engine.

For 2023, BMW positions the M5 as a high-performance four-door that balances serious speed with everyday comfort and usable rear-seat space. Its 600-hp twin-turbo V8, all-wheel drive, adaptive suspension, and 12.3-inch touchscreen are joined by comfort features such as heated front seats and four-zone climate control.
