BMW positions the 8 Series as a high-style grand tourer: a luxury car built to cover distance quickly and comfortably while still feeling special from the driver’s seat. Across coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe forms, its appeal is the mix of strong turbocharged power, dramatic design, rich cabin materials, and everyday technology. Compared with more traditional large luxury cars, the 8 Series leans more emotional and driver-focused.
The 2023 lineup spans six-cylinder 840i grand tourers, all-wheel-drive xDrive versions, and two- or four-door body styles, with a convertible also offered. The M850i adds a twin-turbo V8 and more performance-focused suspension hardware, while the 612-hp ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe emphasizes high-speed comfort. Every version has a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch center screen.
