About the 2022 MINI Hardtop

3rd generation Hardtop family (F56 2 Door / F55 4 Door), late-cycle refresh year.

The 2022 MINI Hardtop is MINI’s core small hatchback: compact, playful, and style-led, with the brand’s signature quick steering and “go-kart” feel at the center of its appeal. MINI positions it as the definitive British premium small car for city driving and short-to-medium daily use, where its small footprint, distinctive look, and upscale cabin feel matter as much as straight practicality. The 2-door leans classic and sporty, while the 4-door adds easier everyday usefulness.

The Cooper remains the straightforward entry point, while the Cooper S adds a stronger turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a more athletic feel. The Cooper SE is the electric city-focused version, with a 181-hp motor and DC fast charging up to 50 kW. At the top, the 228-hp John Cooper Works adds sport suspension and a full-body aerodynamic kit for a sharper performance focus.

Styling

The Hardtop line receives revised front and rear styling, including a new grille, bumpers, side trim, and other exterior details. The John Cooper Works gets a new rear diffuser, while gas Hardtops gain standard LED headlights and Union Jack LED taillights.

Tech

An 8.8-inch center touchscreen with an updated interface and a digital instrument display become standard across the refreshed range. Smartphone integration becomes standard on the Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works.

Safety

The standard driver-assistance package adds lane departure warning. Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking remain part of the safety equipment on gas Hardtops.
