About the 2022 Kia EV6

1st generation, first US model year

Kia positions the EV6 as a sporty, design-forward electric crossover that mixes quick charging, useful range, and everyday crossover practicality. Its main appeal is that it feels more stylish and more upscale than many mainstream EVs while still being easy to live with, thanks to roomy seating, flexible cargo space, and approachable tech. It targets shoppers who want an EV that looks and feels special without moving into a luxury-brand price class.

The 2022 lineup starts with the straightforward Light, which pairs a 58.0-kWh battery and rear-wheel drive with the same dual-screen layout and fast-charging hardware used across the range. Wind is the broadly equipped version, with a 77.4-kWh battery, power output for external devices, ventilated front seats, and Meridian audio. GT-Line brings sportier body details, a wide sunroof, an augmented-reality head-up display, and camera-based parking aids.

“The Kia EV6 is surprisingly engaging and competent. I spent hours hurling it into corners on Tennessee mountain roads, searching for the threshold which you can reach easily on many Kia combustion cars where the car would put a foot wrong, get uncomfortable or start to squirm a bit. It never happened. I found myself having a lot of fun. There's no fake engine noise...and, truth be told, I didn't miss it.”
