2022 Genesis G70

About the 2022 Genesis G70

1st generation (2019-2023), major 2022 mid-cycle refresh

Genesis positions the G70 as its compact luxury sport sedan for drivers who want sharp handling, strong turbo power, and a rich cabin without defaulting to the usual German choices. The brand leans on athletic styling, a driver-focused interior, generous standard safety technology, and strong value for the class. Independent reviewers broadly back that up, regularly comparing the G70 against the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class for its balance of performance, comfort, and upscale feel.

The 2.0T serves as the well-equipped entry model, with a 252-hp turbo engine, heated front seats, touchscreen navigation and a broad set of driver-assistance features. The 365-hp 3.3T emphasizes performance with a twin-turbo V6, sport-tuned suspension and stronger brakes. A limited-run 3.3T Launch Edition adds Brembo brakes, an adjustable suspension, Nappa leather, premium audio and matte-finish styling.

What changed, by category

Styling
The front and rear were redesigned with a new grille, quad-headlight look, taillight theme and rear treatment. The limited-run 3.3T Launch Edition joined the range with matte-finish styling, while the previous 2.0T Sport trim was dropped.
Tech
A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation became standard across the lineup. Heated front seats also became standard on the 2.0T. On the 3.3T, the heated steering wheel, moonroof and ventilated front seats moved from standard to optional equipment.
Safety
Highway Driving Assist became part of the standard driver-assistance package. It combines adaptive cruise control with steering assistance for highway driving.
Powertrain
Sport+ drive mode was added for more aggressive performance settings. The 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 carried over.

How the 2023 Genesis G70 compares

The 2023 Genesis G70 is a light carryover update, led by standard 19-inch wheels on the 2.0T. Other changes are limited to trim and equipment shuffles.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2022 Genesis G70 a full redesign?

No. The 2022 G70 is a major mid-cycle refresh of the first-generation sedan, not a ground-up redesign. Its platform and basic structure carry over, while the exterior design, touchscreen and feature packaging receive substantial updates.

What changed on the 2022 Genesis G70 compared with the 2021 model?

The 2022 G70 received redesigned front and rear styling, a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen, Highway Driving Assist and Sport+ drive mode. Genesis also added the limited 3.3T Launch Edition and discontinued the 2.0T Sport trim.

Did the 2022 Genesis G70 get new engines?

No. The 2022 G70 kept the 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 365-hp twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6. The performance-related addition was Sport+ drive mode rather than a new engine.

What is the 2022 Genesis G70 Launch Edition?

The Launch Edition is a limited-run version of the V6-powered 3.3T created for the refreshed 2022 model. It combines matte-finish styling and lightweight 19-inch wheels with Brembo brakes, an adjustable suspension, Nappa leather, premium audio and several higher-end cabin technologies.

Was the Genesis G70 2.0T Sport offered for 2022?

No. The 2.0T Sport trim was dropped for 2022. The regular 2.0T remained as the four-cylinder entry model, and the limited 3.3T Launch Edition joined the lineup.
