About the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt

1st generation Bolt EV (2017-2021), final year before the 2022 refresh and 1LT/2LT trim renaming.

Chevrolet positions the Bolt EV as a practical electric hatchback for everyday use. Its appeal is simple: electric driving in a compact shape that is easy to park, roomy for passengers, and useful for cargo. Compared with many rivals, the Bolt EV leans more toward everyday usefulness than flashy design, giving shoppers a familiar small-car format with electric power and a tall-roof hatchback layout.

The LT is the straightforward version, pairing front-wheel-drive electric power with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a folding rear seat. The Premier adds leather upholstery, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, extra parking aids, and blind-zone monitoring.

How the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt compares

Frequently asked questions

What changed on the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV compared with the 2020 model?

“Going electric is the best! No more gas. The range on the Bolt exceeded the 259 miles advertised. I have taken my car on two long range trips (Venice to Oaktown) 347 miles one way. The car is comfortable and has a nice ride.”

“The seats are not comfortable especially the head rests. The position is not good. And there is a blind spot in the left corner near where the window frame meets dashboard. Even with the glass in that corner.”

“Be excited to never get an oil change again. I use my brakes very little, so I expect the cost of maintenance on this vehicle to be minimal.”
