About the 2021 BMW 4 Series

2nd generation 4 Series (G22 coupe / G23 convertible), first year

The 4 Series is BMW’s sleeker, lower four-seat two-door alternative to the 3 Series sedan. BMW presents it as a style-forward luxury coupe and convertible that still puts driving feel first, with strong turbo engines, a driver-focused cabin, and either rear-wheel-drive balance or xDrive traction. What sets it apart is that it mixes everyday comfort and modern tech with more dramatic design and a more special two-door feel than a typical compact luxury sedan.

The 430i is the everyday-focused version, with a 255-hp turbo four-cylinder engine, power sport seats, and navigation. The M440i is the quicker step below the M4, using a 382-hp turbo inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid assist, upgraded brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, and an electronically controlled rear differential. Rear-wheel drive and AWD models are represented across the range.

“The G82 M4 Competition is a drivers car. Power delivery is linear and visceral when called for and smooth/refined when dialed up that way. Spirited driving and cruising are equally as enjoyable. Steering feel and overall communication of the chassis is stellar and linear. Simply put, it is a FUN car to drive, own and experience.
