Compared with the smaller Hardtop, it gives buyers real rear-seat space, useful cargo room, and its signature split rear cargo doors, while still feeling more like a sporty wagon than a small SUV. In the lineup, it serves as MINI’s premium compact alternative for drivers who want style and agility without giving up everyday practicality.
The Cooper S serves as the sporty everyday Clubman and the new starting trim, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, heated sport seats, and keyless entry. The Cooper S ALL4 adds all-wheel drive, while the John Cooper Works ALL4 combines the Clubman’s five-seat layout and split rear doors with 301 horsepower, larger brakes, a lowered sport suspension, and extra chassis bracing.

The Cooper S switches to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the Cooper S ALL4 retains an 8-speed automatic. The John Cooper Works ALL4 gains a 301-hp, 331-lb-ft turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, a new 8-speed sport automatic, and a front differential lock that helps put its power down. The non-S Cooper and Cooper ALL4 trims are dropped, making the Cooper S the new starting point.
Styling
The refreshed exterior brings a new grille, revised headlights, redesigned LED fog lights, new mirror caps, and Union Jack-pattern LED rear lights.
