It has very good design both inside and out. Handling and ride quality are excellent. I really enjoy that the screen is above the dashboard and controlled by a dial instead of a touchscreen, but some may not prefer that. The safety features are great. Some negatives are reduced visibility due to large front pillars, low mpg, and the car is a bit slow to accelerate even though it has the highest horsepower in its class.

After driving a Mazda 6, I was really looking forward to driving a sportier Mazda 3. Unfortunately, it has less punch and driving performance than the 6 did. The saving grace is that it's very comfortable and the sound system is AMAZING (which is hugely important for me). I would not choose the Mazda 3 if I did it over again, however.
