About the 2020 INFINITI QX80

2nd generation QX80, third model year after the 2018 redesign/update.

INFINITI positions the QX80 as its flagship full-size luxury SUV: a large three-row vehicle that blends V8 power, strong towing ability, and a roomy cabin with upscale comfort. Its core appeal is simple and practical for this class: it can carry a big family, tow heavy loads, and still feel luxurious inside. Compared with car-based luxury SUVs, the QX80 leans more toward traditional SUV strength and presence, with premium materials and a long standard-equipment list layered on top.

The LUXE delivers the core QX80 formula with three-row seating, a 5.6-liter V8, navigation, a 360-degree camera system, and an integrated tow hitch. The LIMITED is the more fully equipped model, with standard four-wheel drive, suspension that helps control body movement, upgraded leather and wood trim, a 17-speaker Bose audio system, and rear entertainment screens.

How the 2021 INFINITI QX80 compares

The biggest change for the 2021 INFINITI QX80 is its reorganized three-trim lineup, with new PREMIUM SELECT and SENSORY trims joining LUXE and LIMITED leaving the range. It also gains broader standard driver-assist equipment and an improved digital rearview mirror, but this is not a full redesign.

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest difference between the 2020 and 2019 INFINITI QX80?

The biggest difference is the 2020 model’s new dual-screen infotainment system. It brings a redesigned dashboard layout, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new 7-inch driver information display.

Does the 2020 INFINITI QX80 have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the 2020 QX80 lineup and work through its new dual-screen infotainment system.

Did the 2020 INFINITI QX80 LUXE gain more standard safety equipment?

Yes. The 2020 QX80 LUXE made automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and backup collision intervention standard.

Did the 2020 INFINITI QX80 get a new engine?

No. The 2020 QX80 kept its 5.6-liter V8 and seven-speed automatic transmission, so the main updates were inside the cabin rather than under the hood.

Is the 2020 INFINITI QX80 meaningfully different from the 2019 model?

Yes, mainly if modern phone integration and added standard safety equipment matter to you. The 2020 model has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a dual-screen dashboard, and more standard driver-assistance features on the LUXE, but its V8 powertrain and basic body design carry over.

“Honestly, this vehicle was exactly how it was described and pictured. We haven't found a thing yet that we don't like about it. The interior is comfortable and roomy, and climate control is quick and makes the cabin very comfortable quickly. And, the driving experience is about as smooth as anything I've ever driven. If only the gas mileage were just a little bit better, this would be near perfect.”

“Because of the vehicle size and power, plus my previous experience owning Infiniti QX-80's, I suggest 4 wheel drive due to increased versatility and safety.”

LCLeon C.

“Controls in the car are not convenient, 4WD should be moved. NO heads up display, no front camera, entertainment system has connection issues, can press Bluetooth or XM radio multiple times before connection and the volume control is not consistent from one mode to the next.”
