About the 2020 Honda Insight

3rd-generation Insight sedan, launched for 2019; 2020 is the second year of that generation.

Honda positions the Insight as a hybrid for shoppers who want strong fuel economy without the look or feel of a dedicated eco car. The message is sleek sedan styling, a roomy and comfortable cabin, standard safety technology, and hybrid efficiency that fits normal daily driving. In plain terms, the Insight is meant to feel like an upscale compact sedan first and a hybrid second, giving commuters a familiar Honda experience with much lower fuel use.

The 2020 Insight is a three-trim hybrid sedan, with the LX covering the essentials and the EX adding an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote start, and a folding rear seat. The Touring is the upscale version, with heated leather-trimmed front seats, a moonroof, built-in navigation, and a 10-speaker audio system. Every trim uses the same 151-hp two-motor hybrid system and has Honda’s safety suite as standard.

The most important change for the 2021 Honda Insight is the addition of blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert on EX and Touring trims. Otherwise, this is a quiet carryover year with the same hybrid system, trim lineup, cabin layout, and infotainment hardware.

Comments from owners are optional, but included here when available.

“The Honda Insight is an amazing hybrid that gets me to point A to point B very easily. The car is very economical as I mostly pay $25 to fill up the tank at over $3 per gallon. The car can go for around 450 miles per tank. The only problem that I have is that the acceleration is not so great and the engine is loud when you try to accelerate.”

“I would say forget what you think about preconceived notion of a hybrid and what's its like, and just take a chance. I really like the car better than I thought.”

LBLori B.
2020 Honda Insight EX

“Car has been very reliable so far. Fuel mileage is excellent so long as you stay off the highway. Handles well and rides decent. Somewhat difficult to get out of due to being so low to the ground. Adaptive cruise does weird stuff when the vehicle in front of you exits the highway.”
