About the 2020 Acura MDX

3rd generation (2014-2020), final U.S. model year before the skipped 2021 model year and the all-new 2022 redesign.

Acura positioned the 2020 MDX as a premium three-row family SUV that tried to feel more athletic than most rivals. The core pitch was strong V6 performance, available torque-vectoring AWD, standard AcuraWatch safety tech, and a more driver-focused feel than a typical family crossover, while still delivering leather seating and usable third-row space. In this generation, Acura also used the Sport Hybrid and A-Spec versions to give the MDX a more performance-minded identity than many other midsize luxury SUVs.

The 2020 MDX ranges from a straightforward three-row V6 model to Technology versions with navigation and upgraded audio, plus comfort-focused Advance versions with ventilated front seats, second-row captain’s chairs, and a surround-view camera system. A-Spec models bring a sportier look, while the PMC Edition combines that appearance with Advance equipment, standard AWD, and a numbered hand-assembled build.

“The MDX is a very comfortable road trip vehicle with good gas mileage and very reliable.”

TBTodd B.
2020 Acura MDX Base AWD

“Overall an excellent and comfortable SUV. There is less cargo space than it appears. Delightful interior design and seats. Handles beautifully.”

CCChristopher C.
2020 Acura MDX Base AWD

“The adaptive cruise control is completely unsatisfactory. It is jerky and over compensates when braking and accelerating. My wife and I both hate it. Our 2014 Mercedes had this technology perfected. Acura is not a premium brand!”
