This is a great, versatile car. It may not be as roomy as an SUV but it is equally as capable and a lot more fun to drive. The 4WD system is awesome and there are a lot of little features that make the car very comfortable and easy to use (e.g. there are levers in the trunk to drop the rear seats so you don't have to walk around to the side door, cubby holes in the trunk for storage, etc.) It has a better build quality, power, and features than a comparable Subaru for about the same price. I take it to the mountains and camping frequently and like that it feels like a luxury vehicle but is also rugged, practical, and dependable. If you're considering the Subaru Crosstrek or even an outback, get this instead.

It's among the best all-around Swiss Army knives of vehicles out there, and among the ONLY good choices if a manual transmission is a must-have as it is with me. Fun to drive, sporty, economical, loaded with tech, good in foul weather, and versatile. Only drawbacks are a lack of rear seat room and comfort for long trips, and it lacks a few luxury items that my 2002 Passat wagon had (memory seats, auto-tilt mirror in reverse, full power passenger seat). I also wish I could input points of interest into the GPS by voice and not just street addresses. Overall, though, this vehicle is the one to beat and I can't recommend it strongly enough.
