About the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser

200 Series/J200 (2008-2021 US), late-cycle year and three model years after the 2016 exterior, transmission, and technology update.

Toyota positioned the 2019 Land Cruiser as a premium eight-seat SUV built for demanding trails, long-distance travel, and heavy towing. Its key distinction was the combination of body-on-frame strength, full-time 4WD, extensive low-speed off-road controls, and a quiet leather-trimmed cabin. Compared with road-focused luxury SUVs, it placed greater emphasis on durability, difficult-terrain capability, and carrying passengers or an 8,100-pound trailer far beyond paved roads.

Toyota sold the 2019 Land Cruiser in one fully equipped trim that combined family-SUV comfort with serious off-road and towing hardware. It has a 381-hp V8, full-time four-wheel drive, low-speed trail controls, leather seating for eight, a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation, and an 8,100-pound towing rating.

“It's an understated, non-prestigious vehicle. But it is the most capable off-the-showroom-floor SUV you can buy. If you're looking to make a flashy statement consider one of the German brands. It is an expensive vehicle but it's cost can be amortized over a 15 year daily-driver life; followed by a high resale value.”
