Jeep positions the Cherokee as the compact SUV for shoppers who want more real trail ability and towing confidence than a typical small crossover, without giving up everyday comfort. Even away from the Trailhawk, the model leans into Jeep branding, available four-wheel drive, and a more rugged feel than rivals like the CR-V or RAV4. Higher trims also push the Cherokee toward a near-luxury feel with richer materials, larger touchscreens, and more comfort features.
The Latitude is the straightforward core model, with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and LED lighting. Limited and Overland focus on comfort with leather, heated seats, and an 8.4-inch screen; Overland adds navigation, ventilated seats, and premium audio. Trailhawk is the off-road model, with four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, Rock mode, and skid plates, while Trailhawk Elite adds more cabin comfort.

A new 2.0-liter turbo engine joined the engine lineup. Flexible-fuel powertrains were dropped from the Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Overland, and Trailhawk trims.
Styling
Jeep redesigned the front end and updated the rear styling. LED low- and high-beam headlights and LED daytime running lights became standard across the lineup.
Tech
The updated touchscreen system added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Remote start also became standard on the Trailhawk after being optional for 2018.
Structural
A lighter liftgate created a wider cargo opening, and a capless fuel filler was added across the lineup.
