About the 2019 INFINITI Q70

Y51 generation (introduced as the 2011 INFINITI M, renamed Q70 for 2014), refreshed for 2015 with the longer-wheelbase Q70L added; 2019 is the final U.S. model year.

The Q70 is INFINITI’s large rear-drive-based luxury sedan, aimed at drivers who want a quiet, richly trimmed cabin and strong naturally aspirated V6 or V8 power instead of a smaller, sharper sport sedan. INFINITI’s own messaging centers on craftsmanship, comfort, detailed materials, and effortless performance, while the Q70L adds extra rear-seat space for a more chauffeur-friendly feel. Its clearest differentiators are the available long-wheelbase body, naturally aspirated engines, and a traditional luxury-sedan layout with available AWD.

The 2019 Q70 is a comfort-focused luxury sedan, with the 3.7 LUXE serving as the straightforward V6 version and the 5.6 LUXE adding a stronger V8. Long-wheelbase Q70L models provide 5.6 inches of extra rear legroom, heated rear seats, and soft-close rear doors. Navigation, Bose audio, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and a 360-degree camera are standard on all four listed LUXE trims.

Frequently asked questions

What changed on the 2019 INFINITI Q70?

The main 2019 change is more standard equipment for the V6-powered 3.7 LUXE models. Navigation, Bose audio, leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, and parking sensors moved from the former Essential package into the regular equipment list.

Was the INFINITI Q70 Hybrid offered for 2019?

No. The Hybrid LUXE was dropped for 2019, leaving V6- and V8-powered gas models in the Q70 lineup.

Did the 2019 INFINITI Q70 get new engines or a new transmission?

No. The remaining 2019 Q70 models continued with the 3.7-liter V6 or 5.6-liter V8 and a 7-speed automatic transmission.

What is different about the 2019 INFINITI Q70L?

The 2019 Q70L has a longer body that provides 5.6 inches of extra rear legroom. It also has heated rear seats and soft-close rear doors, while the V6 Q70L received the same expanded standard equipment as the regular-wheelbase 3.7 LUXE.

Is the 2019 INFINITI Q70 meaningfully different from the 2018 model?

Only in a few important lineup and equipment details. The 2019 V6 LUXE trims made the former Essential package standard, and the Hybrid LUXE left the lineup; the gas-powered models otherwise carried over without a redesign or major mechanical update.

“Get the Q70 before the 2020 model year, because the design is changing, or will be a rebadged Mitsubishi, like most of the other cars in the Infiniti lineup.”
