About the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro

6th generation (2016-2024), mid-cycle refresh year.

Chevrolet positions the Camaro as a driver-focused rear-wheel-drive sports car with a wide performance ladder, from a turbo four to a supercharged V8. The emphasis is not only straight-line speed; Camaro is sold on sharp handling, a low seating position, a cockpit wrapped around the driver, and real track-capable hardware in the upper trims. Against rivals, the Camaro’s pitch is the more serious, more precise performance choice, especially once you move into SS, 1LE and ZL1 territory.

The LS is the straightforward turbo four-cylinder coupe, while the LT line adds more comfort and runs through the newly added 3LT grade. The SS pairs a 455-hp V8 with stronger brakes and track-focused cooling. At the top, the ZL1 keeps its distinctive aerodynamic nose and combines a 650-hp supercharged V8 with an adaptive suspension, launch control, and large Brembo brakes.

What changed, by category

Styling
LS, LT, and SS models get redesigned front ends and reshaped hoods, while the ZL1 retains its aerodynamics-focused nose. Every trim receives new LED taillamps and revised rear-end detailing.
Safety
LED headlamps become standard on every Camaro trim. There is no new lineup-wide driver-assistance suite.
Tech
Chevrolet Infotainment 3 replaces the previous MyLink touchscreen systems. Navigation changes from standard to optional on LT, SS, and ZL1, while remote start becomes standard on SS.
Powertrain
The automatic-equipped SS moves from an 8-speed to a 10-speed transmission. The Turbo 1LE package also brings track-focused hardware to four-cylinder LT coupes.

How the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro compares

The big news for the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro is the new LT1 trim, which puts the SS model's 455-hp 6.2-liter V8 into a simpler LT-based package. This is a focused lineup update, not a redesign.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro a full redesign?

No. The 2019 Camaro is a mid-cycle refresh of the sixth-generation car, with updated styling, lighting, infotainment, and trim equipment rather than a new platform.

What changed on the 2019 Camaro compared with the 2018 model?

The 2019 Camaro gets revised front and rear styling, standard LED headlamps, new LED taillamps, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 touchscreen system. The lineup also adds a 3LT grade and Turbo 1LE package, while automatic-equipped SS cars move to a 10-speed transmission.

Did the 2019 Camaro SS get a 10-speed automatic?

Yes. Automatic-equipped 2019 Camaro SS models use a 10-speed transmission in place of the previous 8-speed automatic.

Does every 2019 Camaro have LED headlights?

Yes. LED headlamps are standard across the 2019 Camaro lineup, and every trim also receives new LED taillamps.

What changed on the 2019 Camaro ZL1?

The 2019 Camaro ZL1 gets LED headlamps, new LED taillamps, a revised rear fascia, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. Its aerodynamics-focused front end largely carries over instead of adopting the new nose used by other trims.
