2019 Acura TLX

The main change for the 2019 Acura TLX is the addition of an A-Spec version of the 2.4-liter four-cylinder model. Otherwise, this is a light-update year with the engines, safety features, and overall design largely carrying over from 2018.

About the 2019 Acura TLX

1st generation TLX (2015-2020), second model year after the 2018 refresh.

Acura positioned the TLX as a sporty premium sedan with strong everyday value, a more aggressive look, and a lot of standard safety tech. Its big draws were standard driver-assist features, smartphone integration, and Acura’s handling-focused hardware such as rear-wheel steering on many versions or available torque-vectoring AWD on V6 models. Compared with many rivals, the TLX leaned more toward comfort, usability, and features for the money than all-out performance.

The 2.4-liter TLX is the everyday, handling-focused version, with rear-wheel steering, heated front seats, smartphone integration, and standard driver-assist features. The V6 models provide stronger acceleration, while Technology trims add navigation, premium audio, leather trim, and blind-spot monitoring; A-Spec emphasizes a sportier look, and Advance focuses on comfort and camera coverage.

Some V6 package trims also received minor wheel updates.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between the 2019 and 2018 Acura TLX?

The main difference is that the 2019 TLX offers the A-Spec appearance and cabin package with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Most of the lineup otherwise carries over from 2018.

Was the 2019 Acura TLX redesigned?

No, the 2019 Acura TLX was not redesigned. It remained part of the first generation and followed the larger refresh introduced for 2018.

Does the 2019 Acura TLX 2.4 A-Spec have a V6?

No, the 2019 TLX 2.4 A-Spec has a 206-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. It pairs that engine with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic, rear-wheel steering, and the A-Spec appearance and cabin treatment.

Did the engines change for the 2019 Acura TLX?

No, the 2019 TLX carries over its 206-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 290-hp 3.5-liter V6 engines. The new four-cylinder A-Spec trim changes the equipment mix, not the engine itself.

Did the 2019 Acura TLX add new safety features?

No, the 2019 TLX did not receive a new lineup-wide safety feature. Its standard driver-assist suite continued to include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking.
