About the 2017 Jaguar XE

1st generation (X760), first U.S. model year

Jaguar positioned the XE as a true driver’s luxury sedan: lighter than many rivals, rear-drive in character, and built to stand out from the usual German compact sport sedans. The core appeal was sharp steering feel, balanced handling, sleek styling, and a more distinctive personality than mainstream rivals. Even in lower trims, Jaguar sold the XE as a sporty premium sedan first, with luxury and technology layered in as buyers moved up the range.

The 2017 XE ranged from the fuel-efficient 20d diesel and the rear-wheel-drive 25t turbo four-cylinder to the quicker 35t with a 340-hp supercharged V6. Prestige versions emphasized comfort with leather, navigation, and heated front seats, while R-Sport models added sportier bodywork and driver-assistance features. The 35t First Edition served as the launch showcase, combining V6 power with heated front and rear seats and other upscale equipment.

How the 2018 Jaguar XE compares
