About the 2017 INFINITI Q70

Y51 generation, renamed Q70 for 2014; 2017 is a late-cycle year after the 2015 styling update and the addition of the Q70L long-wheelbase model.

INFINITI positions the Q70 as its flagship sedan: a large luxury four-door with strong engine choices, a quiet cabin, and a more driver-focused feel than a soft traditional luxury sedan. The regular car targets buyers who want performance character and classic luxury-sedan proportions, the Q70L adds serious rear-seat space, and the Hybrid mixes speed with better fuel economy. Its big differentiators are drivetrain variety, strong comfort features, and the availability of a long-wheelbase body in this class.

The 2017 Q70 ranges from the straightforward 330-hp V6 sedan to a 420-hp V8 model with navigation, cooled front seats, and a Bose audio system. The Hybrid pairs a V6 with an electric motor, while the Q70L models use a longer body that adds 5.6 inches of rear legroom.

How the 2018 INFINITI Q70 compares

For 2018, the biggest change is the addition of the LUXE name to every Q70 trim. INFINITI also renamed the option packages and made its InTouch single-display infotainment setup standard, while the engines and basic design carried over.

Frequently asked questions

Was the 2017 INFINITI Q70 redesigned?

The main equipment change was a rearview camera becoming standard on the 3.7, Hybrid, and L 3.7 trims. The Hybrid’s electric-motor torque also rose from 199 to 214 lb-ft, and the optional Premium Select Edition package became more widely available on the Q70L.

Did the 2017 INFINITI Q70 get new engines?

No. The established lineup carried over with a 3.7-liter V6, a 5.6-liter V8, and a V6-electric hybrid system. The Hybrid did receive more electric-motor torque, rising from 199 to 214 lb-ft.

What is different about the 2017 INFINITI Q70L?

The Q70L is the long-wheelbase version, with 5.6 inches more rear legroom than the regular Q70. For 2017, its basic V6 and V8 formula carried over, while the optional Premium Select Edition package became more widely available.

Is the 2017 INFINITI Q70 Hybrid meaningfully different from the 2016 Hybrid?

Only slightly. Its electric-motor torque increased from 199 to 214 lb-ft, and its rearview camera became standard, but there was no replacement hybrid system or broader redesign.
