The XL remains the straightforward work truck, while the XLT adds useful daily-driving and towing conveniences. Lariat brings leather seats and an 8-inch touchscreen, King Ranch adds western-themed luxury, and Platinum pairs a polished cabin with trailer-aware blind-spot monitoring and LED lighting.

The familiar gas and diesel choices continued, but their ratings differed from 2016. The 6.2-liter flex-fuel V8 moved from 316 horsepower and 397 lb-ft of torque to 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft, while diesel torque moved from 860 to 925 lb-ft.
Styling
Ford redesigned the pickup body and cabin. The interior gained a more modern layout and additional storage.

The rearview camera changed from optional to standard on XLT.
