About the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

1st generation Chrysler Pacifica minivan (2017-2020 before the 2021 refresh), first model year.

Chrysler positions the Pacifica as a family minivan that solves everyday life rather than just hauling people. The big themes are flexible seating, a quiet cabin, easy entry through sliding doors, clever storage, rear-seat entertainment, and a long list of safety tech. Against rivals, its clearest advantages are the Stow 'n Go seating system on gas models and the availability of a plug-in hybrid, giving buyers either maximum interior flexibility or strong electric-first efficiency.

The gas lineup ranges from the practical LX with fold-flat Stow ’n Go seating to the comfort-focused Limited with navigation, a panoramic glass roof and a built-in vacuum. Touring-L Plus emphasizes family entertainment with dual 10-inch rear screens, while the Hybrid Platinum combines plug-in driving with leather seating and a broad driver-assistance package.

What changed, by category

Structural
The Pacifica replaces the Town & Country on a new platform with a new body and chassis. Its structure is quieter and more rigid, and the family-focused interior is completely redesigned.
Powertrain
Gas models use a 3.6-liter V6 paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Premium and Platinum plug-in hybrid models arrived later in the model year with a V6, electric motor and 16-kWh battery.
Styling
The new generation brings a fully redesigned exterior and interior rather than an update of the outgoing Town & Country.
Safety
The new lineup expands driver-assistance equipment. Depending on trim, features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and a surround-view camera.
Tech
The redesigned cabin offers 5-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen systems, depending on trim. Upper models add navigation, dual 10-inch rear entertainment screens and a 13-speaker Alpine audio system.
Trim lineup
The gas range spans LX through Limited, and Touring Plus joined later in the model year between Touring and Touring-L. The plug-in hybrid is offered in Premium and Platinum forms.

“It is really fun to drive for a minivan. The electric gives it a lot of pickup when it has a charge.”

2017 Chrysler Pacifica Platinum Hybrid (Plug-in)

“We love our Pacifica. As a family of six, with sport active kids, its great for all their gear with all the room the van offers. Our only complaint is that is does ride pretty low to the ground with no much clearance.”
