2016 Mazda CX-5

My son picked this vehicle out for me and thought it would be a great vehicle for his momma. Boy, was he right! I am loving it and feel so in control and safe when driving it. I feel like I own the road! : )

We had looked at last year's CX-5 and were not impressed with the ride and handling. The upgrades you made to the 2016 were good enough for us to choose this vehicle. Very nice ride and handling, and surprising quietness. We traded in a BMW X-3 for this SUV and do not think we traded down, we are very satisfied. Delightful to drive, handles well, has good visibility and feels safe. Love the safety features (backup camera with sensors, lane change monitor) and love the value. Great fuel efficiency.

More back seat room would be nice. 2. Lights in center console and glove box. Light under hood for nighttime viewing of engine. 3. Change tires to Goodyear comfort tread touring that would cut down on interior cabin noise. AND A TRADITIONAL ENGINE TEMP GAUGE instead of the light. 4. CD explaining NAV operation.

Rear passenger ceiling vents would be nice along with power rear lift gate for higher end models.

Somewhat disappointed with the car. Not enough power when driving uphill or passing other vehicle. Fuel efficiency not adequate. No powerlifting trunk. No 360 degree camera. Sometimes problem programming address in navigation. Advertising the car as "2016" model is misleading.

I never had Mazda before. But CX-5 is completely changed my view of Mazda car maker. This SUV drives like a sedan or coupe. Very nimble and powerful vehicle.

Really loving the CX-5, but I do have a couple comments/observations. The gear shift knob is made out of hard plastic, this feels like a missed opportunity. My hand is always on the gear shift knob, even though it's an automatic, and I can't help but think that it feels a bit cheap. I previously owned a 2007 Mazda 3 and that gear shift knob was wrapped in leather. In my opinion, all gear shift knobs should be modeled after that one. My other comment has to be about the roof liner. It's not the end of the world, but my car has a black exterior/interior yet the roof liner is this beige/light gray color. It would be nice if the roof liner could also be black or at least a dark gray to better align with the exterior/interior color combination. My last comment would be that my girlfriend seems to think the CX-5 looks like an Audi, which I happen to consider a great compliment (as does she). Audi offers an appearance package where all the chrome is blacked out. I think a similar package for all Mazda vehicles would be great. Overall the interior quality is great, but hard plastic was used in certain areas that seem questionable to me. For example, the shifter and door armrest should be leather or some sort of nice/soft plastic since they are constantly being touched.

Mazda needs to still upgrade the materials used on the door panels and instrument panel. They also need to offer more interior color choices. There is more to life than black and beige.
