About the 2016 Dodge Dart

PF generation (2013-2016), final year; no redesign, but a midyear lineup simplification before the model was discontinued.

Dodge positioned the Dart as a compact sedan for shoppers who wanted more style and a more driver-focused feel than the average small car, without giving up interior room. The main selling points were bold Dodge styling, a roomy cabin for the class, an available large 8.4-inch touchscreen, and chassis tuning that felt more engaging than many compact rivals.

The 2016 Dart covered several priorities, from the value-focused SXT Sport to the manual-transmission Turbo and the 2.4-liter GT Sport. GT Sport paired its sport hood with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, push-button start, and a backup camera, while Blacktop versions added gloss-black wheels and exterior trim. Earlier in the model year, the comfort-focused Limited featured leather, navigation, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

What changed, by category

Structural
Dodge simplified the lineup in April 2016, centering the rest of the model year on three core versions: SXT Sport, Turbo, and GT Sport. Blacktop and Rallye variants built on those core trims.
Styling
Early-year updates included a new SE Rallye appearance treatment, a sport hood option on certain SXT and GT models, and expanded Blacktop availability for GT. The midyear Turbo and GT Sport also used the sport hood, while new Blacktop variants added dark exterior trim and gloss-black wheels.

Frequently asked questions

Was the 2016 Dodge Dart redesigned?

No, the 2016 Dodge Dart was not redesigned. It remained part of the 2013-2016 generation, with appearance updates and a midyear trim reorganization instead of major structural changes.

What was the biggest change to the 2016 Dodge Dart?

The biggest change was an April 2016 lineup reset. For the rest of the model year, Dodge centered the Dart range on SXT Sport, Turbo, and GT Sport, with Rallye and Blacktop versions adding appearance and chassis upgrades.

What were the main trims after the 2016 Dart’s midyear lineup change?

The three core trims were SXT Sport, Turbo, and GT Sport. SXT Sport used a 2.0-liter engine, Turbo paired a 1.4-liter turbo engine with a six-speed manual, and GT Sport used a 2.4-liter engine with more cabin technology.

How was the 2016 Dart GT Sport different from the earlier GT?

The GT Sport kept the sport-focused 2.4-liter setup but had a lighter standard equipment list than the earlier GT. It retained useful features such as the 8.4-inch touchscreen, push-button start, backup camera, and sport hood, while some of the GT’s luxury equipment was no longer standard.

Was 2016 the final year for the Dodge Dart?

Yes, 2016 was the Dodge Dart’s final U.S. model year. The car ended its run without a redesign, following the midyear lineup simplification.

“I think the uConnect option for hands free device could be a little more reliable. I'm constantly having to turn off my Bluetooth due to it not continuously staying paired through the phone and system. Cuts in and out. Other than that it's a great vehicle.”

2016 Dodge Dart SXT/Rallye

“The overall car is great you get the appeal of a dodge without the charger or challenger price. I've only had a few inconveniences such as the doors squeak, one or 2 tires losing pressure and one time the car turned off for a few minutes (thankfully) at a red light. I got it checked out and nothing was found and it hasn't happened since.”
