About the 2016 BMW X5 M

2nd gen (F85, 2015-2018), second year

The 2016 X5 M is BMW’s high-performance version of the X5, built for drivers who want SUV space and all-weather traction without giving up the speed and sharper road manners associated with BMW’s M models. In BMW’s own launch messaging, it combines everyday practicality with a very powerful twin-turbo V8, M-specific suspension and braking hardware, and a richly trimmed cabin.

The 2016 X5 M is BMW’s performance-focused SUV, pairing a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with an 8-speed automatic and AWD. Its road-focused hardware includes an adaptive suspension, rear air suspension, and a system that helps limit body lean. The cabin features heated sport seats in Extended Merino leather, navigation, and Harman Kardon surround sound.

“The BMW X5 M is exactly what a sport/luxury SUV should be. Incredible acceleration, handling and braking! It holds the road in sharp curves at high speed better than my SLK! It is truly a phenomenal vehicle!”

“The ONLY 2 things I wish for (or do not like) in my new X5M is, there's not enough leg room in back seat and back seats SHOULD HAVE SOME ABILITY TO RECLINE! Probably will not buy again because of this... :-(”
