About the 2015 MINI Countryman

1st generation (2011-2016), mid-cycle refresh year

MINI positions the Countryman as the biggest, most versatile MINI of its era: four doors, a large tailgate, five seats, flexible cargo space, and available all-wheel drive, but still with the brand’s playful handling and distinct design. It is aimed at shoppers who like MINI style and driving feel but need a usable back seat and more room for daily life, road trips, or rough-weather driving than the smaller hatchbacks offer.

The Cooper is the straightforward, 121-hp version, with front-wheel drive and a flexible sliding and folding rear seat. Cooper S models add a 181-hp turbo engine and sport seats, while the Cooper S ALL4 adds all-wheel drive and silver lower-body trim. The 208-hp John Cooper Works ALL4 is the performance model, with all-wheel drive and a sport suspension.

Comments from owners are optional, but included here when available.

“As with other BMW family vehicles, Mini comes with run-flat tires standard and no spare tire in the vehicle. I would prefer the option to get a spare tire and not have run flat tires mainly due to cost and the ability to get my vehicle to a reliable shop if I do experience a failure a considerable distance from home.”

“3 negatives: (1) outside mirrors are either too small or need more range of adjustment; (2) dashboard controls are too small and/or down too low to see easily; (3) coin holder is behind cup holders and is hard to reach when drinks are in holders.”

“Love my car but hitting a bump or a hole feels like the end of the world. My only issue is with the handling of the potholes.”
