2015 Mazda CX-9

Love my CX9, wish it had a full sized sun roof and bigger GPS screen

I am slowly becoming better acquainted with my car. I am becoming more satisfied with the car and am learning to operate it better. I appreciate the safety features such as blind-spot and the camera for backing up. I wish I had gotten a GPS, leather seats and automatic lights. I think I have discovered that they will automatically turn themselves off, just wished they would automatically turn on when needed. I liked the look of the Mazda as it was somewhat like the Volvo CX90. I needed a third row of seats but did not want to drive a big, big car. The Mazda had eye appeal for me. Looking back I wish that I had spent a little more and gotten total leather seats, the automatic lights, the XM radio, power lift tailgate, the GPS system and charging systems for devices for the back seats. I am growing appreciative of my Mazda. It meets my basic need of being able to carry all 4 grandchildren who are too young to sit in the front row.

Apart from fuel economy, my CX9 is great! Very happy with the ride and engine performance.

Fix the bluetooth iPhone connection that stops the music from shuffling. Currently having an issue with Apple iPhone music shuffle not working in our Mazda - this is an issue that has occurred before and unfortunately it looks like Mazda have done nothing to fix that.

Back up camera and navigation should be standard on base model. A larger dash monitor for navigation and other features.

Front seats should both go much lower. I am 6' tall and my head almost hits the roof. LOTS of available space under the seat that could be used better. Rear doors are too long and they hit other cars in the parking lot. Fuel economy is abysmal. This car needs much less power and much more fuel economy. Climate Control never works well. Bring back the regular old heating controls from 1979. Head rest is too far forward. Lumbar support still not large enough for proper posture. Wheels could be smaller (less expensive) and tires could be thinner to allow for better fuel economy. This is not a race car, why do you feel the need to give it high-performance tires and 265HP engine? Unnecessary waste of money and resources. ALL cars should be plug-in electrics.

An advertised feature does not work. The instrument lighting is haphazard. The buttons at the kneeline for the drive are hard to determine what they do. Some light up on the panel, some light up on the buttons, some don't light up at all, which makes it hard to determine what button one has pushed or responds. The lack of engineering especially about fuel economy is my greatest disappointment. We've owned a 2008 CX9 with the exact same feature and colors except for the interior color. A good improvement was made in the GPS and Bluetooth integration. However the advertised SMS/Text messaging does not work and Mazda does not seem to be concerned about it. Mazda has loudly and proudly advertised the Skyactive engineering feature on all their other vehicles, but apparently never thought about using this technology to improve the fuel mileage on the CX9. We love handling and ride quality of the CX9 and really don't understand their lack of progress on this vehicle which seems to selling very well for them. Thank you.

I don't like the current navigation system (Tomtom) as much as the system in the 2012... or the backup camera/screen.

I think with the upgrades my vehicle has....it should have memory seats. Also should have some place to store the garage door remote....visors are too think for them. I do not have the smart mirror.

I replaced a 2010 Mazda Grand Touring with a 2015 Mazda Grand Touring both with front-wheel drive. 2010 was getting 21 mpg overall (rated 16 & 22). The 2015 is only getting 19.4 (rated 17 & 24). I was expecting better gas mileage--not worst. Other than this factor which distresses me, I am well satisfied with vehicle. It is 4th Mazda my wife and I have owned.
