About the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport

2nd generation (L494), second model year after the 2014 redesign; no major refresh.

Land Rover positions the Range Rover Sport as the more athletic, driver-focused member of the Range Rover family: a luxury SUV that feels sharper on pavement than the full-size Range Rover but still keeps real Land Rover trail ability. Its appeal is the mix of upscale cabin materials, height-adjustable air suspension, strong towing and bad-weather capability, and a choice of supercharged engines.

The 2015 lineup stretches from the straightforward V6-powered SE and more upscale HSE to two distinct V8 experiences. Supercharged emphasizes performance with 510 horsepower, while Autobiography pairs that engine with upgraded leather, heated seating, a digital instrument display, and a 19-speaker Meridian audio system. The new SVR sits at the top with 550 horsepower, a louder active exhaust, sport-tuned air suspension, and model-specific sport seats.

The SVR introduces model-specific aerodynamic body hardware and SVR-branded sport seats.

Tech
Park Assist changed from optional to standard across the lineup. Premium audio changed from standard to optional on SE, HSE, and Supercharged.

How the 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport compares

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest change to the 2015 Range Rover Sport?

The biggest change is the new SVR, a 550-hp performance flagship and the first Land Rover to wear the SVR badge. It adds a supercharged V8, active sports exhaust, firmer suspension tuning, and model-specific body and interior details.

Is the 2015 Range Rover Sport a full redesign?

No. The 2015 Range Rover Sport is the second model year of the generation introduced for 2014, so it keeps the same basic aluminum-intensive body, air suspension, cabin design, and off-road hardware.

How does the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR differ from the Supercharged trim?

The SVR is the more focused performance model. It has 550 horsepower instead of the Supercharged trim's 510, along with an active exhaust, sport-tuned air suspension, SVR sport seats, and model-specific aerodynamic body hardware.

Did Park Assist change on the 2015 Range Rover Sport?

Yes. Park Assist changed from optional to standard across the 2015 Range Rover Sport lineup.

Which features became optional on the 2015 Range Rover Sport?

“Interior is rugged, but could use some additional refinement like the existing GLE.”

“The front seat does not come up high enough to for me as my HSE did. I have to use a pillow to rise me up. I really don't like the position of the outside side mirrors. My 2012 HSE had lower mirrors for better viewing and less blind spot problems. Lastly, I absolutely loved the piping on the cream seats, which are no longer offered.”

“I recently have had a squealing noise coming from my brakes when I go to brake in the car.”
