About the 2015 Jeep Renegade

1st generation (BU), first year / all-new U.S. launch

Jeep positioned the Renegade as a small SUV that kept real Jeep personality instead of becoming just another city crossover. The pitch centered on upright Jeep styling, a roomy cabin for the class, simple touchscreen tech, and genuine 4x4 capability that most small rivals did not match. For many buyers, the draw was not straight-line speed or class-leading fuel economy, but a mix of character, visibility, everyday usability, and the option of true trail ability in a city-friendly footprint.

The 2015 lineup ranges from the straightforward Sport to the everyday-focused Latitude, which has a touchscreen and backup camera. Limited emphasizes comfort with leather-trimmed and heated front seats, while Trailhawk is built for off-road use with low-speed four-wheel drive, a lifted suspension, skid plates, and hill descent control.

What changed, by category

Structural
The Renegade debuts on Jeep’s small-wide 4x4 platform, using a one-piece body structure and fully independent suspension.
Powertrain
The U.S. lineup has two four-cylinder setups: a 1.4-liter turbo paired with a six-speed manual and a 2.4-liter engine paired with a nine-speed automatic. Most trims have front- or four-wheel drive, while Trailhawk uses a low-speed four-wheel-drive system for off-road driving.
Safety
All trims have seven airbags, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist.

“Not very happy that car comes with no spare tire, and the fact that you have to be almost on top of the car to open it with the remote control. Otherwise the car is great.”

MSMery S.
2015 Jeep Renegade Sport - FWD

“There are only 2 things that I think need improvement on my new jeep renegade: 1) The engine power when merging onto an expressway is sluggish. Once you are up to speed all is fine, but I have found I need to be very careful merging into traffic that is already moving at 65-70 mph. 2) The navigation/map screen is extremely hard to read with the gray tone colors available. Why is there no color map option?”

SHSusan H.
2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk

“Does not have trip mileage indicator. When in cruise control, or stopping cruise control, mileage indicator vanished.”
