About the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

4th generation WK2, second year after the 2014 mid-cycle refresh.

Jeep positioned the 2015 Grand Cherokee as a premium midsize SUV that blends genuine Jeep trail capability with a quieter, more upscale road-going feel. The model's core appeal was breadth: one body style, several powertrain choices, strong towing, available serious 4WD hardware, and upscale trims that pushed into near-luxury territory. Against rivals, Jeep sold it as the SUV that could handle commuting, family duty, towing, and rough weather without giving up comfort or cabin quality.

The lineup runs from the straightforward Laredo, with a 3.6-liter V6 and 5-inch touchscreen, to more luxurious versions with leather, navigation and panoramic sunroofs. Overland emphasizes comfort, while Summit adds a quieter cabin, richer materials and more driver-assistance features. SRT is the performance model, with a 475-horsepower 6.4-liter V8, big Brembo brakes and adjustable drive modes.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The SRT's 6.4-liter V8 rises from 470 to 475 horsepower and from 465 to 470 lb-ft of torque.
Styling
The dark-trimmed High Altitude joins the lineup as an Overland-based model, and SRT gains the Red Vapor appearance edition. The Altitude's power moonroof moves from standard equipment to an option.
Safety
The new High Altitude has adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with brake assist, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection.
Tech
Active noise cancellation is added to Summit and SRT. The lineup otherwise keeps the 5-inch and 8.4-inch touchscreen systems introduced for 2014.
Structural
Summit gains an acoustic windshield and acoustic second-row side glass to reduce cabin noise.

“The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers such a good value with so many different options for drivetrain and style of the body. I love the performance of the multi-speed automatic transmission and the fact that it will shift into four-wheel drive when needed. Good power and performance.”
