2015 GMC Sierra 3500

The 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a full redesign, not a carryover. Its biggest change is an all-new body and cabin, joined by a quieter cab, a new Double Cab body style, and easier-to-use cargo-box features.

About the 2015 GMC Sierra 3500

2015-2019 Sierra HD generation, first year of the redesign.

GMC positions the Sierra 3500HD as a heavy-duty truck for people who need serious towing and payload capability but do not want to give up comfort or upscale design. The GMC angle versus the closely related Chevrolet is a more premium look and feel: a quieter cabin, smarter storage, more polished trim progression, and stronger luxury differentiation at the top end with Denali.

The 2015 lineup ranges from a no-nonsense base work truck to the comfort-focused SLT and luxury-oriented Denali. Work-ready features include an integrated trailer brake controller, movable bed tie-downs, and a CornerStep rear bumper, while upper trims add an 8-inch touchscreen, heated leather seats, navigation, and premium audio.

Safety
Forward collision alert and lane departure warning joined the lineup. A rearview camera became standard on SLE and SLT.
Tech

Structural
The redesigned truck gained a quieter cab with inlaid doors and triple door seals. A new Double Cab body style joined the range, and the cargo box added a CornerStep rear bumper and movable upper tie-downs.

“The rear headrests are the biggest disappointment in the vehicle. They are a safety concern since the headrests cannot be adjusted to the proper height for the rear seat occupant. When pushed, the headrests drop to the lowest setting.”

“The headlights are definitely a failure! Extremely dim... Very stressful to drive at night.”

“This truck needs to have a tire pressure monitoring system available. Also, an optional rear seat fold-down, similar to that of the Yukon, should be available on the crew cabs.”
