About the 2015 Ford Edge

2nd generation Edge (2015-2018), first year of the redesign.

Ford positions the 2015 Edge as a roomy two-row midsize SUV for buyers who want more comfort, quietness, and technology than a smaller crossover without moving up to a three-row family vehicle. Its core appeal is a broad middle ground: easy daily use, generous passenger and cargo space, a more upscale cabin feel, and available choices ranging from practical turbo four-cylinder efficiency to genuinely quick Sport performance.

The redesigned Edge ranges from the straightforward SE and comfort-focused SEL to two distinct upper trims. The new Titanium emphasizes leather seating, a hands-free liftgate, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system, while the Sport pairs a 315-hp twin-turbo V6 with firmer suspension tuning and unique exterior details.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder became the standard engine on most trims. The Sport replaced its former 3.7-liter V6 with a new 315-hp 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, and every trim received a six-speed automatic with steering-wheel shift paddles.
Styling
Ford completely redesigned the exterior and interior for the second-generation Edge. The Sport also received its own grille and revised lower front and rear styling.
Safety
New front knee airbags and curve-speed control joined the lineup, and a rearview camera became standard. Higher trims added access to more advanced driver-assist and parking features.
Tech
Push-button start became standard, while larger-screen infotainment and added parking assistance expanded higher in the range. The new upscale Titanium trim brought an 8-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker Sony audio, driver memory, and a hands-free power liftgate; the Limited trim was dropped.
Structural
A new body structure and redesigned front and rear suspension improved cabin quietness, ride isolation, and cornering feel. Maximum cargo room increased from 68.9 to 73.4 cubic feet, and rear legroom grew from 39.6 to 40.6 inches.

How the 2016 Ford Edge compares

The main change for the 2016 Ford Edge is the newer SYNC 3 touchscreen system, which replaces MyFord Touch on equipped trims. This is otherwise a light update to the Edge that was redesigned for 2015.

Frequently asked questions

Was the 2015 Ford Edge fully redesigned?

Yes. The 2015 Edge began the model’s second generation with a new body structure, a larger and quieter cabin, redesigned suspension, and completely new exterior and interior styling.

What engine changes did the 2015 Ford Edge receive?

The 2015 Edge made a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder the standard engine on most trims. The Sport replaced its previous 3.7-liter V6 with a 315-hp 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, and all trims used a six-speed automatic with steering-wheel shift paddles.

Is the 2015 Ford Edge roomier than the 2014 model?

Yes. Maximum cargo room increased from 68.9 to 73.4 cubic feet, while rear legroom grew from 39.6 to 40.6 inches as part of the redesign.

What safety and convenience features became standard for 2015?

A rearview camera, push-button start, curve-speed control, and front knee airbags became standard across the 2015 Edge lineup. Curve-speed control can slow the vehicle if it enters a bend too quickly.

Was the Titanium trim new for the 2015 Ford Edge?

Yes. Titanium joined the 2015 lineup as the upscale trim, while the Limited trim was dropped. Titanium included leather-trimmed heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, driver memory, and a hands-free power liftgate.
