2015 Chevrolet Colorado

About the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

2nd generation Colorado in North America (2015-2022), first year of the generation and the model’s return to the U.S. market after a two-year hiatus.

Chevrolet positioned the 2015 Colorado as the truck for people who need real pickup capability without stepping up to a full-size Silverado. The marketing message centered on easier maneuvering, garage-friendly size, strong towing and hauling for its class, and a cabin that felt more modern and connected than the aging midsize trucks it faced. In plain terms, it is the everyday midsize pickup that blends true truck usefulness with more comfort and tech than the old compact-truck formula.

The 2015 Colorado ranges from simple work-focused pickups to the more comfortable, connected LT and the trail-focused Z71. The LT has an 8-inch touchscreen and four USB ports, while the Z71 adds an off-road suspension, a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, and heated front seats.

What changed, by category

Powertrain
The redesigned truck arrives with new gas engines: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6. The base model pairs the four-cylinder with a six-speed manual transmission.
Styling
The returning Colorado has an entirely new body, offered in extended-cab and crew-cab layouts with two bed lengths.
Safety
A rearview camera is standard throughout the lineup.
Tech
The cabin gains modern displays and connectivity. Base and Work Truck models have a 4.2-inch color audio display with USB, while the LT has an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth audio streaming, and four USB ports.
Structural
The Colorado moves to a new chassis and more modern cab structure. An aluminum hood, triple-sealed doors, and added attention to cabin quietness distinguish it from the previous U.S. Colorado.

How the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado compares

The most important change for the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado is the addition of a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine on eligible Work Truck, LT, and Z71 models. This was not a redesign, and the basic truck and its gas engines largely carried over from 2015.

“Love my new truck! Would like to see the Z71 with a sunroof and the tires could be a little nicer-always look dirty and not as nice as the rest of the truck.”

“The electronics in the vehicle feel a little glitch at times, the AC will automatically turn on when I turn on the fan even when the thermostat is on heat and the screen will go to the air menu when I turn on the truck even though I never leave the radio. I was also surprised to see no cd player.”

“This truck is poorly built, expected much more from Chevrolet. The transmission is so bad, I hate driving this truck. Would take my Ram 1500 back in a heartbeat. Based on this purchase Chevy will never sell me another vehicle again. I have only 1200 miles on it and already feel like I have been ripped off, wasted money. Anyone who thinks this truck is good does not know what a good truck is. So disappointed...”
