2014 Toyota Camry

The biggest change for 2014 arrives with later 2014.5 production: a backup camera becomes standard on every Camry. Otherwise, this is a modest update rather than a redesign.

About the 2014 Toyota Camry

7th generation Camry (XV50), pre-refresh final year before the major 2015 rework.

The 2014 Camry is Toyota's midsize family sedan built around space, comfort, easy daily driving and a strong reputation for dependability. Toyota sells it as the safe, sensible choice in the class, with a roomy cabin, quiet ride and a wide spread of personalities: basic commuter, sporty SE, more upscale XLE and fuel-saving hybrid. Its main edge is that it does many things well without demanding much from the owner.

The lineup centers on the practical L and LE, while the SE has firmer suspension and sharper steering and the XLE emphasizes comfort with dual-zone climate control and a power driver’s seat. The new SE Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a moonroof and a power driver’s seat. Hybrid models use a 200-horsepower gas-electric system, and the limited-run Hybrid SE adds sportier styling and cabin trim.

What changed, by category

Safety
Later 2014.5 production makes a backup camera standard across the entire Camry lineup. Earlier 2014 cars may not have one.
Tech
Toyota revises the audio range during the model year and expands its Entune-branded touchscreen systems. Premium audio, satellite radio and smartphone integration become standard on the SE and XLE.
Trim lineup
The four-cylinder SE Sport joins the lineup with 18-inch wheels, a moonroof and a power driver’s seat. A limited-run Hybrid SE also arrives during 2014.5. Hybrid LE and Hybrid XLE become standalone trim names, replacing the hybrid powertrain listings under LE and XLE.

How the 2015 Toyota Camry compares

The 2015 Toyota Camry received a major mid-cycle refresh, led by nearly all-new exterior bodywork. It stayed in the same generation, but the update made it look newer and feel quieter and sharper on the road.

Frequently asked questions

Do all 2014 Toyota Camrys have a backup camera?

No. A backup camera became standard across the lineup on later 2014.5-production Camrys, so an earlier 2014 car may not have one. Check the individual car rather than assuming the feature is present.

What is different about the 2014 Toyota Camry SE Sport?

The SE Sport is a new four-cylinder trim for 2014 that builds on the regular SE with 18-inch wheels, a power moonroof and an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support. It keeps the SE’s firmer suspension, sportier exterior trim and paddle shifters.

What is the 2014.5 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE Limited Edition?

The Hybrid SE Limited Edition is a limited-run sport-themed hybrid introduced during the model year. It combines the Camry Hybrid’s 200-horsepower gas-electric system with 17-inch wheels, an SE-style body kit, a rear spoiler, fog lights and sport-trimmed seats.

Was the 2014 Toyota Camry fully redesigned?

No. The 2014 Camry remains part of the seventh generation and receives only modest equipment and trim updates. The larger exterior and interior rework arrives for the 2015 model year.

Is a 2014 Camry meaningfully different from a 2013 Camry?

Only modestly. A later 2014.5 car is the more meaningful step because it has a standard backup camera and the revised Entune audio range. The basic engines and overall vehicle design otherwise carry over, though 2014 also adds the SE Sport and limited-run Hybrid SE trims.

“Overall I absolutely love the Toyota Camry, it spacious for a family of four to make an 8 hour trip. However it's also fun enough to drive around the city. The performance is great, it is very reliable and stylish.”

“Love the Toyota Camry! Great condition, price and reliable. The front seats are a little deep/too bucket for my preference but other than that this is a great vehicle!”

“I buy Toyota cars because of my past experience with them. At one time I was a GM person but that stopped years ago. My success with the Toyota cars will not make me change to other makes.”
